HOW. How did I fall in love with family portraiture? I often wonder how I got into all this. If you would have asked me where I saw myself taking this photographing thing in high school, I would have mustered something up about travel photography and perhaps some fine art.
But family portraiture? I couldn’t have predicted how much joy would be gained by hanging out with families. Just doing their thing.
so, how did I fall in love with this?
duh.
THIS | this darn good stuff : full of smiles, and even a few frowns.
I had never met this family. They almost didn’t make it (because lets get real… having someone take your portraits can be a little… hard. and vulnerable. and are they going to turn out? and what if we didn’t even sleep last night? And we are moving in 3 days… and)It was supposed to be pouring down rain. And yet, they did make it. And they brought these kids. And bubbles.
And footballs and even the most adorable pair of jeans that have kitten knee caps.
Turns out, this family is pretty well adored. They made good friends in Ketchikan (and if you’ve had some time in Ketchikan, you know what good good friends mean). Turns out this family was leaving onto another adventure in the lower 48 and I was just lucky enough to catch them before their left.
Landis family, thank you. Thank you for making this happen. We sure made some pretty photos out of it all!
