Talk about a perfect Saturday: real, unposed life with the Ficek family! There was an abundance of perfect natural light streaming through the windows of this gorgeous and meticulously decorated home, which made my photographer’s heart sing. Meet Darby and her husband Nick, and their beautiful children.
Darby is one of the kindest souls I’ve ever met, truly a life-giving sort of person. Her voice, her words, and the way she lovingly interacts with her children is a joy to document. She is also the heart and artistic florist behind “Beyond the Briar”, which specializes in custom, foraged arrangements, and she and I will be collaborating on a few projects in the future. Her and Nick were ideal candidates for a lifestyle session, because they were up for anything. There was plenty of jumping on the bed, a few kisses, and even some modeling clay to keep everyone busy.
The part that made this session truly outstanding, was working with the lovely Jessica Heron as we swapped ideas. She shared a little of her video magic with me and this family. Her work is meaningful, and adding family home videos will now be a staple in my world. I’ve added her video of our day at the bottom of this post.
