Green Springs Inn Wedding | Southern Oregon Wedding Photographer

September 22, 2017

As a photographer, I am the one entrusted with some of the most precious days. It’s no small thing that I’m invited into sacred circles, and monumental moments. Some wedding days are filled with dancing, music, lavish decorations, and family members who come from afar, while others are nestled deep in the woods and filled with just a few special people. What I’ve learned is that there is no right or wrong way to celebrate marriage; there are simply different ways to celebrate love. Each day I’ve been invited into has represented the special couple, and their personal style and passions.

Nels and Rachel opted for a stunning vow exchange in a beloved location: the Green Springs Inn. The Inn is a staple near the Southern Cascades, and since it’s inception in 1994, it’s become more loved and historic. I had the pleasure of working with Revive Events, an experienced wedding planner Brandie, who helped with coordination, decoration and everything in between. I highly recommend working with a day-of coordinator, as it really helps couples stay present during their day. Wedding planners can take care of all the little details so quickly, that brides don’t even have time to imagine the possibilities of things gone awry! Brandie was an amazing help during this day. Nels and Rachel are unique. They live in a place of peace, goals, love, light, hugs, and they are makers of community and delicious health tonics. The food was vegetable-laden and full of nutrients. Everything about the ceremony and reception was thoughtful and took such careful planning…it was a true and authentic reflection of the couple.

They were married by their spiritual grandmother who gave words of wisdom and gentle advice. Poetry was read and trees were planted. My favorite part of the day was the speeches..as always. Thoughtful, witty and prepared speeches are such a great way to remember why we are celebrating with the couple. I believe weddings are a wonderful time to acknowledge our character and the depths of our hearts. There is something vulnerable and raw about ceremonies that open people up and bring them together…the speeches become a testament to the great love that is being celebrated.

And oh, what a great love it is.
